Baby monitors are used to “see” and “hear” your baby while they are in a different location to the parent or carer. So they physically monitor the infant while you are not in the same room as them. Of the different types of baby monitor, the most popular type is the wireless baby monitor. They transmit the baby’s sounds wirelessly around the home and typically have a range of up to 100 yards through obstructing walls and up 300 yards in free space. Wired baby monitors are available but less popular. These are used if the parent is at all concerned about interference as wired monitors don’t suffer from this problem. However wireless baby monitors are so advanced these days with digital type monitors, interference is a thing of the past.

It’s best to choose a baby monitor that has a low battery indicator as an out of charge receiver unit is no use so you will want some warning of the battery about to go flat. With a wireless or cordless baby monitor, you will have the freedom to roam anywhere within your home whilst carrying the monitor receiver unit. You can wander into your kitchen, sitting room or garden knowing that your baby is safe and sound and being watched over.
